How to Use Our Live Map

Our live map highlights beaches and bays which might be suitable for paddleboarding based on current wind conditions. This tool is designed to support your decision-making and enhance your safety. While it’s incredibly helpful, remember that it should not be relied upon as your sole source of information. Always:

  • Check another trusted weather forecast.

  • Familiarise yourself with the local tide times.

  • Assess the conditions yourself before heading out.

The Gower’s natural beauty is also its challenge — conditions can change rapidly, and what looks inviting one minute can become hazardous the next.

Top Paddleboarding Spots

Here are some of our favourite paddleboarding locations on the Gower Peninsula:

  • Mumbles: This sheltered spot is perfect for paddleboarding, mainly at high tide. The calm waters and picturesque surroundings make it an excellent choice for paddlers of all levels.

  • Langland Bay: A popular spot with calm waters, ideal for beginners. The bay is sheltered, but always check for swells coming in from the west. High tide is best.

  • Oxwich Bay: With its expansive sandy beach and calm conditions, Oxwich is perfect for families and relaxed paddling. Keep an eye on offshore winds.

  • Three Cliffs Bay: For the more adventurous paddler, this iconic location offers breathtaking views. Beware of strong currents near the river mouth. Look out for organised trips on the biggest of tides…it’s epic!

  • Llangennith Beach: A favourite for surfers, this beach can also offer paddleboarding opportunities on calmer days. Watch for surf conditions and strong winds.

Safety First

Your safety is our top priority. Always:

  1. Wear a buoyancy aid: Even in calm conditions, safety gear is essential.

  2. Check the tides and currents: Use our tide times feature to plan your outing (always check a few sources).

  3. Tell someone your plans: Share your expected route and return time.

  4. Know your limits: If conditions look questionable, it’s better to wait for another day.
